Jīva Can NEVER Become Kṛṣṇa

Śrī Baladeva Vidyābhūṣaṇa’s Govinda-bhāṣya commentary on key Vedānta-sūtras, directly establishing that the jīva never becomes Īśvara (Kṛṣṇa). Sri Baladeva Vidyabhusana with his commentary on Vedanta Sutra conclusively defects the Advaita vada of Sankarachraya

1) Vedānta-sūtra 1.1.16 — netaro ’nupapatteḥ

Govinda-bhāṣya (Baladeva)

“na jīvaḥ paramātmā bhavitum arhati, bandha-mokṣa-prasaṅgāt; īśvarasya tu nitya-muktatvāt.”

Meaning:

“The jīva cannot be the Supreme Soul, because bondage and liberation would then apply to God; whereas the Lord is eternally liberated.”

Why this is decisive:

If the jīva were (or could become) Kṛṣṇa, God would be subject to ignorance and liberation—an impossibility.

2) Vedānta-sūtra 1.2.11 — guhāṁ praviṣṭāv ātmānau hi tad-darśanāt

Govinda-bhāṣya

“hṛdaya-guhāyāṁ dvāv ātmānau—jīvaḥ paramātmā ca—upapadyete; na tu ekatvam.”

Meaning:

“In the cave of the heart, two souls are present—the jīva and the Paramātmā; not one.”

Why this is decisive:

Baladeva explicitly states two distinct selves, rejecting absolute identity.

3) Vedānta-sūtra 2.3.17 — jñaḥ kartā ca

Govinda-bhāṣya

“jīvo jñātā kartā ca karma-vaśaḥ; īśvaraḥ tu sarva-karma-phala-dātā, na karma-vaśaḥ.”

Meaning:

“The jīva is a knower and doer, subject to karma; the Lord is the giver of the fruits of all actions and is not subject to karma.”

Why this is decisive:

One who is controlled by karma cannot become the controller of karma.

4) Vedānta-sūtra 2.3.20 — aṇutvāc ca

Govinda-bhāṣya

“jīvaḥ aṇu-rūpaḥ, paramātmā tu vibhuḥ; tayoḥ svarūpa-bhedaḥ nityaḥ.”

Meaning:

“The jīva is atomic (infinitesimal), whereas the Supreme Soul is infinite; their difference in nature is eternal.”

Why this is decisive:

Aṇu can never become vibhu—size and capacity difference are eternal.

5) Vedānta-sūtra 2.3.21 — avyaktād iti cet na

Govinda-bhāṣya

“na mokṣe ’pi jīvasya īśvaratva-prāptiḥ; bhoga-aiśvarya-sāmya-abhāvāt.”

Meaning:

“Even in liberation, the jīva does not attain the status of Īśvara, because equality in lordship and powers does not occur.”

Why this is decisive:

Baladeva explicitly denies the idea that liberation makes the jīva God.

6) Vedānta-sūtra 4.4.17 — jagad-vyāpāra-varjam

Govinda-bhāṣya

“muktasyāpi jagat-sṛṣṭi-sthiti-laya-vyāpāraḥ nāsti; sa kevalaṁ bhagavataḥ eva.”

Meaning:

“Even the liberated soul does not perform the activities of creating, maintaining, and dissolving the universe; those belong solely to Bhagavān.”

Why this is decisive:

Cosmic lordship is exclusive to Kṛṣṇa—never acquired by the jīva.

7) Vedānta-sūtra 1.1.12 — ānandamayo ’bhyāsāt

Govinda-bhāṣya

“ānandamayaḥ parameśvaraḥ; jīvas tu ānanda-bhāk, na tu ānanda-svarūpa-pūrṇaḥ.”

Meaning:

“The Supreme Lord is the embodiment of bliss; the jīva partakes of bliss but is not fully constituted of bliss.”

Why this is decisive:

Participant in bliss ≠ possessor of bliss in fullness.

One-Line Vedāntic Verdict (Baladeva)

“jīva-īśvarayoḥ bhedaḥ nityaḥ, bhāva-aiśvarya-kriyābhiḥ.”

“The difference between the jīva and the Lord is eternal, in nature, power, and activity.”

Final Conclusion (Govinda-bhāṣya, Summed Up)

Jīva is aṇu, Kṛṣṇa is vibhu

Jīva is karma-vaśa, Kṛṣṇa is karma-phala-dātā

Jīva is nitya-dāsa, Kṛṣṇa is nitya-īśvara

Liberation perfects service; it never grants Godhood

Yess Gurudev the last line is perfect. It’s so messed up how the so called guru’s are falsely leading the innocent crowd towards Mayawaad philosophy which is so dangerous that they don’t even realise it. Thankyou so much Gurudev for clarifying the difference between Jiva and Krishna Tatva so clearly 🙏🥰💛🙇🏻‍♀️

Your article clarifies all doubts about Jiva becoming God(Krishna). Jiva can only be part and parcel of God but never be God. So beautifully explained 🙏❤️
